Informatica Integration
Important
This guide is only relevant if you are using MetaKraftwerk's Informatica integration. If you are only developing ELT patterns, you can skip this page.
Informatica offers three different data integration platforms: Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC), PowerCenter, and Data Engineering Integration (DEI).
MetaKraftwerk supports all three platforms.
The following describes how to link MetaKraftwerk with each of these platforms.
Uploading Templates from Informatica
Regardless of the platform:
To generate mappings and taskflows/workflows for Informatica, templates must first be developed in Informatica and then uploaded to MetaKraftwerk.
In MetaKraftwerk, these templates are then enhanced with dynamic rules that define how a template becomes a runnable and valid data integration process.
The tools for mapping and taskflow development differ in Informatica depending on the platform. IDMC is web-based, while PowerCenter and DEI offer a desktop-based client.
Informatica Data Management Cloud
Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC) is the latest Informatica platform and also the fastest growing platform, which is experiencing the most development and is expected to fully replace PowerCenter and Data Engineering Integration in the future.
IDMC offers a variety of services.
An important service is "Cloud Data Integration" (CDI), which enables the development of mappings, taskflows and related objects, and is the successor to the well-known PowerCenter in the cloud.
However, CDI can also develop mappings for on-premise use cases, showcasing Informatica's advantage as a hybrid integration solution.
To develop a template in CDI for MetaKraftwerk, use the same editors you would use when developing a conventional mapping or taskflow in Informatica.
When developing a template, ensure that placeholders are created in sources, lookups, targets, and expressions, which can later be replaced by MetaKraftwerk with "real" fields.
Export Package in IDMC
IDMC enables the exchange of objects via export packages, ZIP files, that contain metadata about exported objects such as mappings and taskflows.

PowerCenter
Informatica PowerCenter is a comprehensive data integration platform that enables companies to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into target systems (ETL process).
PowerCenter also supports high scalability and performance, making it ideal for large and complex data projects.
Data Engineering Integration
Informatica Data Engineering Integration, formerly known as Big Data Management, is a data integration solution specifically designed for processing and managing large data volumes in Hadoop and cloud environments.
This platform offers scalable, high-performance tools to optimize big data workloads, accelerating data processing and increasing operational efficiency.
